Podcasting
Podcasts are a great non musical audio way to learn about topic areas or methods of study. The great thing about podcasts is they can be used on the move and many people use them due to that. I often listen to podcasts when driving, walking, or working out as they are a great way to stay up on current events or learn more about different subjects and areas of interest.
One of the multimedia subjects i picked out this week on the discovery exercise for Texas Education on iTunes U was a podcast on the State of the Gulf by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. This podcast exposes the gulf in a manner much greater than it being the simple sum of the parts along the shorelines of 5 different states and 3 countries. The podcast talks about everything from illegal fishing to climate change. There is also a podcast on action for saving the oceans from our pollution.
I also found an interesting podcast about discovering the heritage on the Texas frontiersmen by the institute of Texan cultures. It speaks about discovery of heritage and the buffalo solders, their lives, and the lives of their descendant. For more information about this subject you can visit Texan Cultures at www.texancultures.com
