Learning involves ongoing, active processes of inquiry, engagement, and participation in the world around us. We do it from the instant we’re born and evolves everlastingly. It takes place in schools, as well as beyond these walls, into and throughout our lives. Regardless of ability or background, everyone has the potential to learn. Learning experiences literally shape the brain and keep it active. So, it’s important to know our abilities are not fixed, but continuously developing everyday. Lifelong learning should be seen as the foundation of an effective school, an active community, and a fulfilled and meaningful life. The ultimate end of learning is to never stop learning. Attitude is Everything!
# 1. Begin with the end in mind: set your goals.
#2. Accept your role and responsibility for learning: no one will force you to learn, only you will.
#3. Problems are challenges: embrace them.
#4. Have confidence as competent learner: if your mind can conceive it, it can achieve it.
#5 Learning toolbox: prepare yourself with the tools and resources you will need.
#6 Use technology: so many resources in this dept. Use them.
#7 Teach and mentor: Sharing gained knowledge and experiences is your greatest reward.
#7 1/2 Have Fun!
My weakest habit is my learning toolbox. I have taken many courses over the years of my education and I wish I would just have all the take away's organized in my toolbox. I am determined to get better with organization and utilizing my learning toolbox.
My strongest habit is embracing and taking on challenges. I am a competitor by nature (and choice for that matter). I view challenges as minor, temporary obstacles that will be overthrown with a good plan and motivation.
My learning Contract.
