Thing #7 Wikis
Wikis are used by institutions and individuals alike all over the country to collaborate, write, pool knowledge or exchange ideas on a simple to build easy to navigate website. The word Wiki originated from a Hawaiian phrase "wiki wiki" which is indicative of something fast! Wikipedia is the biggest wiki website today with an over 1 million wiki entries on the website. The major difference between wiki sites and other knowledge based sites is that Wiki sites are created, collaborated, edited and maintained by its authors and users. This allows new information on a subject to be added, or false information to be removed from a particular wiki entry. I would not recommend using wikis as a credible scholarly source when it comes to academics unless it is supported by a reputable institution such as the one listed below. As with all wikis, they die out or become obsolete over time if they are not maintained.
BookLoversWiki is a wiki page dedicated to, well, book lovers. On this site you can read reviews and summary's from books and their readers. I like the variety of books included in this wiki from romance novels to horror books. Relatively small in comparison to other wikis, this gives you a fresh ideas on creating or contributing to a book wiki library website.
Thing #6 Image Generators
Image Generators are used to magnify and elaborate illustrative art work from words. Students will have fun creating different illustrations for projects and assignments alike. I found two image generating tools that I like here. Wordclouds and Wordle are fairly similar sights you can utilize to create your perfect word cloud or your project.
Wordclouds.com is a free online word cloud generator and tag cloud creator that works on your PC, tablet or smartphone! You can paste text, upload a document or open an URL to automatically generate a word- or tag cloud. You can also customize your clouds with shapes, different themes, colors and fonts. With Wordclouds, you can also generate clickable word clouds with links to share or save online.
I made my wordcloud based on Valentine's Day with a pink, red, and purple themed heart!

Wordle.net is a toy for generating word clouds from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, or save them to your own desktop to use as you wish.
